Trade Name: Apidone

Composition: Each 5 ml syrup contains:

Dexamethasone 0.5 mg

Chlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg

Inactive ingredients: Methyl paraben, propylparaben, glycerin, ethanol 95%, sugar, purified water.

Properties: Glucocorticosteroid (GCS) — a methylated derivative of fluoro prednisolone, inhibits the release of interleukin-1 and interleukin-2, interferon gamma from lymphocytes and macrophages. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, desensitizing, anti-shock, anti-toxic and immunosuppressive effects.

Suppresses the release of pituitary adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and beta-lipotropin, but does not reduce the content of circulating beta-endorphin. It inhibits the secretion of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH).

(chlorpheniramine), has sympathomimetic activity.

- allergic conditions (conjunctivitis, uveitis, scleritis, keratitis, iritis)

- systemic immune diseases (sarcoidosis, temporal arteritis)

- proliferative changes in the orbit (endocrine ophthalmopathy, pseudotumors), sympathetic ophthalmia

- immunosuppressive therapy in corneal transplantation

- ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, local enteritis.

Dosage and administration: Children 2-6 years: 2.5 ml every 4-6 hours. The maximum daily dose is 15 ml.

Children 6-12 years old: 5 ml every 4-6 hours. The maximum daily dose is 30 ml.

Adults and children over 12 years: 10 ml every 4-6 hours. The maximum daily dose is 60 ml.

Contraindications: — hypersensitivity to the active substance or auxiliary components of the drug;

— peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum;

— osteoporosis;

— acute viral, bacterial and systemic fungal infections (when appropriate therapy is not used);

— Cushing’s syndrome;

— severe arterial hypertension;

— severe renal insufficiency;

— obesity III — IV degree;

— active form of tuberculosis;

— acute psychosis;

— pregnancy and lactation;

— cirrhosis of the liver or chronic hepatitis;

— children up to 2 years old.

Warnings and precautions: In diabetes mellitus, tuberculosis, bacterial and amoebic dysentery, arterial hypertension, thromboembolism, heart and kidney failure, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, recently formed intestinal anastomosis, Dexamethasone should be used very carefully and subject to the possibility of adequate treatment of the underlying disease. If the patient had a history of psychosis, then treatment with glucocorticosteroids is carried out only for health reasons.

Side effects: Common:

transient adrenal insufficiency, decreased carbohydrate tolerance, increased appetite and weight gain, mental illness.

Rare:

hypersensitivity reactions, elevated plasma triglycerides, gastric ulcer, acute inflammation of the pancreas.

Storage: Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees.
