• Acute otitis media
• Exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
• Community-acquired pneumonia
• Cystitis
• Pyelonephritis

Tradename: Augmentin
Augmentin
Structure: each tablet contains 500 mg of amoxicillin and 125 mg of clavulanic acid
Auxiliary components: magnesium stearate, sodium starch glycolate (type A), colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose;
Properties: Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin (beta-lactam antibiotic) that inhibits one or more enzymes (known as penicillin-binding proteins) in the biosynthesis of bacterial peptidoglycan, which is the unifying structural component of the bacterial cell wall. Inhibition of peptidoglycan synthesis leads to a thinning of the cell wall, which subsequently leads to lysis and cell death. Amoxicillin is destroyed by the action of lactamases produced by resistant bacteria, and therefore the spectrum of activity of amoxicillin itself does not include microorganisms that produce these enzymes.
Clavulanic acid is a lactamase inhibitor structurally related to penicillins. Clavulanic acid blocks the action of certain lactamase enzymes, thereby preventing the inactivation of amoxicillin. Clavulanic acid alone does not exhibit a clinically significant antibacterial effect.
Indications: Augmentin is indicated for the treatment of the following infections in adults and children:
• Acute bacterial sinusitis
• Acute otitis media
• Exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
• Community-acquired pneumonia
• Cystitis
• Pyelonephritis

• Infections of bones and joints, in particular osteomyelitis

Method of administration and dosage: Apply before meals
The dosage regimen is set individually, depending on the severity of the course and localization of the infection, the sensitivity of the pathogen.
Augmentin tablets should not be taken by children under 12 years of age.
Recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years old:
One Augmentin 375mg tablet every 8 hours
Severe infections:
Two tablets Augmentin 375mg every 8 hours or Augmentin 625mg every 8 hours.
Children 2–12 years old take on an empty stomach in three doses 40 mg + 10 mg / kg / day of Augmentin®, powder for suspension for oral administration, 125 mg + 31.25 mg in 5 ml (156.25 mg).
The drug Augmentin®312.5 powder for the preparation of a suspension for oral administration, 250mg + 62.5 mg in 5 ml (312.5mg) at a dose of 20mg + 5 mg / kg / day, divided into two doses.
Contraindications: a history of hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, clavulanic acid, other components of the drug, beta-lactam antibiotics (for example, penicillins, cephalosporins); previous episodes of jaundice or liver dysfunction when using a combination of amoxicillin with clavulanic acid in history. impaired renal function (Cl creatinine less than 30 ml / min);
Precautions: Before starting treatment with Augmentin®, it is necessary to collect a detailed history of previous hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins, cephalosporins or other substances that cause an allergic reaction in the patient. Serious and sometimes fatal hypersensitivity reactions (anaphylactic reactions) to penicillins have been described. The risk of such reactions is highest in patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins. In the event of an allergic reaction, it is necessary to discontinue treatment with Augmentin® and begin an appropriate alternative therapy.
Side effects: Infectious and parasitic diseases: often — candidiasis of the skin and mucous membranes.
From the gastrointestinal tract:
— adults: very often — diarrhea; often — nausea, vomiting;
— children: often — diarrhea, nausea, vomiting;
Adverse events from the liver are observed mainly in men and elderly patients and may be associated with long-term therapy. These adverse events are very rare in children.
