Telfast - Decongestant 10 tab

Telfast decongestant is used to relieve the symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (including hay fever) with sinus congestion

Tradename: Telfast decongestant

10 tablets of prolonged action.

Compound: Fexofenadine hydrochloride 60 mg. Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 120 mg.

Excipients: • cellulose

• corn starch

• croscarmellose sodium

• magnesium stearate

• carnauba wax

• stearic acid

• silica

• Opadry film coating

Properties: Telfast decongestant contains two active ingredients, fexofenadine (an antihistamine) and pseudoephedrine (a decongestant). Antihistamines help reduce allergic symptoms caused by a substance called histamine. Examples of these include: watery eyes, itchy eyes, sneezing, and runny nose. Decongestants such as pseudoephedrine relieve congestion in the upper airways, including the tenos, nasal passages, and sinuses, making breathing easier.

Indications: Telfast decongestant is used to relieve the symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (including hay fever) with sinus congestion. Symptoms include:

• stuffy nose and paranasal sinuses

• sneezing

• itching, runny nose

• lacrimation, itching in the eyes

• itching in the throat.

Mode of application: • The recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years of age is one tablet every 12 hours. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water and taken before meals.

Side effects: Some of the symptoms of an allergic reaction to Telfast Decongestant may include:

• shortness of breath

• wheezing and difficulty breathing • swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or other body parts

• rash, itching, or hives on the skin. Other side effects include: • headache • nausea • fatigue

• dry mouth

• anorexia

• drowsiness

• sleep problems

• nervousness

• excitability

• anxiety

• dizziness

• fear or anxiety

• cardiopalmus

• tremor

• hallucinations.

Children and people over 65 may have an increased chance of getting side effects.

Tell your pharmacist or doctor right away, or go to the emergency room at your nearest hospital, if you notice any of the following:

• urinary retention

• shortness of breath

• wheezing or difficulty breathing

• swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or other parts of the body

• rash, itching or hives on the skin.

Contraindications: - allergic to fexofenadine, pseudoephedrine, terfenadine or any of the other ingredients

- pregnancy and breastfeeding

- age of children under 12 years old

- very high blood pressure

- if you have:

severe coronary artery disease (heart disease caused by poor blood flow or narrowing of the heart blood vessels)

- angle-closure glaucoma

- urinary retention

- sensitivity to adrenergic events (symptoms include insomnia, dizziness, weakness, tremors or irregular heartbeat)

- or if you have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (medicines used to treat depression) within the past 14 days.

Warnings and Precautions: • Tell your pharmacist or doctor. if you are allergic to any other medicines, foods, preservatives or dyes.

• Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you are pregnant or about to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.

• Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you have or have had any of the following conditions: • high blood pressure • hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland) • diabetes, including diabetes mellitus • heart disease and poor blood flow in the heart blood vessels • glaucoma ( high pressure in the eye) • prostate problems (including prostatic hypertrophy) • liver or kidney disease • hyperreactivity or sensitivity to ephedrine. very high blood pressure

• Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you are planning to have surgery.

• Do not take more than the recommended dose unless your pharmacist or doctor tells you to. You should.

• Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including those you buy without a prescription.

• Some medicines and Telfast Decongestant may interfere with each other. These include medicines used to treat: • depression, • high blood pressure, • heart disease, • urinary tract infections and bladder problems, • behavioral disorders, • nasal congestion (phenylephrine), and • appetite suppressants.

• Be careful driving or operating machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.

Storage method: Store in a cool dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.

Package: Cardboard box contains 2 blisters each with 5 prolonged-release tablets and paper instructions
