* Properties: Albendazole@ is a broad-spectrum antiprotozoal and anthelmintic drug, a benzimidazole carbamate derivative.

Albendazole@ disrupts the processes of glucose transport, inhibits the polymerization of beta-tubulin, causes disruption of the function of the microtubular apparatus in the helminth’s body, which leads to its death a excretion from the human body.

The drug is active against intestinal parasites that cause Larva Migrans cutaneous syndrome (wandering larva syndrome)

Echinococcus multilocularis causing cystic and alveolar echinococcosis. Albendazole@ is effective in the treatment of hepaticolesis caused by Capilaria philippinensis. Most of the drugs used to treat ascariasis are effective against the intestinal stage of this helminthiasis.

Albendazole@ is effective at all stages of the development of roundworm, trichinella. The efficiency is 95-100%.

* Method of administration and dosage: The drug is taken orally, during or after a meal, the tablets are not chewed, washed down with water. The use of laxatives and a special diet are not required. It is recommended that all family members be treated simultaneously. The dose is set individually, depending on the type of helminth and the patient’s body weight. For patients who are unable to swallow the pill whole, it is recommended to crush it and drink it with a little liquid.

The dosage regimen is set individually, depending on age, body weight, and the severity of the infection.

Intestinal infections and Larva Migrans skin syndrome:

400 mg 1 time/ day (1 tablet) for 3 days.

With hymenolepiasis, a second course of treatment is recommended, lasting from 10 days to 21 days.

Systemic helminth infections:

The dose for patients with a body weight of more than 60 kg is 400 mg (1 tablet) 2 times a day.

With a weight less than 60 kg, the drug is prescribed at the rate of 15 mg / kg / day. This dose should be divided into 2 doses.

* Contraindications: hypersensitivity to albendazole and other components of the drug

Taking the drug Albendazole@ for the treatment of systemic helminth infections can cause seizures, increased intracranial pressure and focal symptoms associated with the death of parasites.
